A Summer of Fun at Kelvin Hall!

Looking for something to do with the kids this summer? Kelvin Hall has it all! Check out our round up of things to do in the building, including some great free options.

Clip n Climb and Soft Play

Our newly reopened Clip n’ Climb and Soft Play area is a great option for children with energy to burn! The Clip n’ Climb is a series of climbing walls, each with different themes and levels of difficulty. It’s suitable for ages 4+, and adventurous adults can join in too. Climbing sessions have limited capacity so it’s best to book this in advance if you can. Grown-ups who are there to supervise and not climbing don’t have to pay.

The Soft Play area is located on the first floor of Kelvin Hall, beside the Clip n' Climb. It is suitable for children from 0-12 years old. The soft play is circus themed and has a ball pit, chutes, games and even a mini roundabout for little ones.

The Clip n’ Climb and Soft Play area has a dedicated café where adults can grab a much needed coffee alongside favourites like pizza, sandwiches, salads and snacks. Sessions can be busy during summer so please book in advance if possible. You can find more information on the Soft Play here

The National Library of Scotland’s Moving Image Archive at Kelvin Hall

A hidden gem at the end of the avenue in Kelvin Hall! Enter the National Library of Scotland to be greeted with a massive video wall showing short films from the archives. There are also interactive tablets where children and adults can sit and select their own films to watch and listen to. There are also small exhibitions in the Discovery Space and staff can offer activities to do such as making your own animation.

Entry is completely free and no memberships are required.

Get active at Kelvin Hall

The Glasgow Club gym at Kelvin Hall isn’t just for adults! There are FITJNR memberships available for young people aged 12 and over, this membership also includes swimming at other Glasgow Club venues. These memberships give full access to the gym, including personal training sessions and children over 14 can join in fitness classes too.

For under 5’s PlayGym classes run on weekdays. PlayGym is a self-led session where children can explore the gymnastics equipment with their grown ups. This class costs £2 per person, places usually book out in advance so please book in the app or at reception.

Explore the surrounding area too…

Kelvin Hall benefits from being in the heart of the west end and there is so much to do and see in the local area either before or after your visit. Just across the road you will find Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum with plenty for children to see and do. There’s also the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery which is just a five minute walk away through Kelvingrove Park. A ten minute walk in the opposite direction will take you to Riverside Museum, which is another family favourite with free entry.
