Pickleball at Kelvin Hall

Have you heard about Pickleball? It's a fun, inclusive sport that's growing in popularity in the UK. Here at Kelvin Hall we have now added Pickleball to the list of sports you can book courts for and we're looking forward to welcoming our first Pickleball players this week! If you haven't heard of it (yet) then read on to find out more about the sport!

Pickleball is a hybrid sport combining elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Played on a smaller court with a low net, the game is accessible to all ages and skill levels, making it a standout choice for those seeking a new, engaging activity. The rules of pickleball are straightforward, adding to its broad appeal.

Played with a perforated plastic ball and oversized paddles, the game is typically a doubles match, though singles are common. The objective is to hit the ball over the net, aiming to land it within the opposing team's court. The court's reduced size and slower pace compared to tennis make it easy for beginners to grasp, while still providing a challenge for seasoned players. Pickleball's adaptability has contributed to its rapid rise in popularity across the UK.

This flexibility allows players to transition smoothly from other racquet sports, attracting a diverse range of participants.

What sets pickleball apart is its social aspect. The game's doubles format encourages constant interaction between players, fostering a friendly and inclusive atmosphere on the courts. Many players find the social connections formed during pickleball matches to be a key aspect of their enjoyment.
