Tearoom Treats: Hot Chocolate

This week for Tearoom Treats, Glasgow Museums have a very indulgent and luxurious hot chocolate recipe for you!

Perfect to warm you up after winter walks or as an indulgent festive treat!

You will need:

  • 125g 70% dark chocolate
  • 500ml semi skimmed milk, or milk substitute
  • 3 tbsp cocoa
  • 2.5 tbsp caster sugar
  • Whipped cream and marshmallows to decorate

Grate or finely chop the chocolate and set aside. Put the milk, cocoa and sugar into a saucepan and gently bring to a simmer on a medium heat.

If you like you can experiment with some flavours, try adding a pinch of mixed spice or cinnamon, or perhaps some grated orange rind to the milk. Take the milk mixture off the heat, add in the chocolate and whisk for 2 minutes.

Split the mixture between 4 mugs – or 2 large mugs – add the marshmallows and whipped cream and enjoy!
